Piaf to be performed at Nottingham Playhouse as live theatre returns this summer.

Born Edith Gassion in 1915, no one could have predicted Edith Piaf’s phenomenal rise to fame – from singing in the streets of Paris to becoming one of France’s biggest international stars, her voice is still revered to this day. But her extraordinary talent was matched with an equally extraordinary personal life…Pam Gems’ sensational and emotionally-charged play explores the highs and lows of the enigmatic yet fragile singer’s life and features some of Piaf’s most famous songs, including La Vie en RoseHymne à l’amour and Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien.Piaf is directed by Adam Penford (An Enemy of the PeopleThe Madness of George IIIWonderland) and stars Tony nominee Jenna Russell (Sunday in the Park with GeorgeEastEnders) in the title role.

There may be other Covid-safety measures in place which, of course, we will need audiences to adhere to and we will update all bookers with full details as we know more. We have two guaranteed socially-distanced performances. These will take place on Thursday 8 July, 1.30pm and Tuesday 13 July, 7.30pm. Simply select your preferred date at the point of booking.

Our performance on Wednesday 14 July at 7.30pm will be livestreamed for audiences who would prefer to join us from home. You can book for our livestream here.
