The Princess Alexandra Auditorium and Friarage Theatre – Yarm School

The Princess Alexandra Auditorium and Friarage Theatre are two stunning venues on the Yarm School site that are hosting an exciting calendar of community events.

A visit to the Auditorium is memorable, with beautiful views of the River Tees which can be enjoyed over refreshments in the impressive Atrium. On a summer’s evening pre-show drinks and interval refreshments can be enjoyed from rattan furniture on the terrace.

The Princess Alexandra Auditorium was opened in 2012 by HRH Princess Alexandra and has hosted numerous high-profile performers, such as, Jimmy Carr, The London Gospel Choir, The London Festival Opera and many more. The facility has also been awarded two prestigious RIBA awards for design excellence.

The Recital Room and Studio Theatre are two venues also accessed through the Atrium and are used for smaller concerts and drama productions.

The Friarage Theatre was opened in 2016 by composer, Will Todd. The theatre is part of the school’s impressive music facility and it has been built to the same standard as the Princess Alexandra Auditorium. Used for cinematic events, the HD projector and surround sound means the Friarage Theatre is the perfect venue for NT Live, RSC Live and ENO Live.

We work with an increasing range of partners across the North East region and beyond, hosting a range of events and performances by Yarm School and local people, so if you would like to use our fabulous facilities, please get in touch.
