Taunton Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre

It’s a fresh start for Taunton Brewhouse, one that reflects ambitions of remaining the principal arts centre in the region with a reputation for innovation, and a commitment to programming high quality art in all genres.

Their aim is to support and develop artists at each stage in their career – and establish a working relationship with them going forward, which showcases and celebrates their success. They want to become a social hub for the community – a place that embraces inclusivity, and where everyone can be assured of a warm welcome and accessible to all.

Taunton Brewhouse first opened its doors on March 28 in 1977, after John Wilkins and Cllr John Meikle led a successful campaign for a theatre in Taunton.

The first professional production was Alan Ayckbourn’s The Norman Conquests, starring Only Fools and Horses‘ David Jason. From the start they have enjoyed support from the local community, who have been involved in everything from fundraising, to volunteering Front of House, to working behind the scenes.

Audiences are loyal and return again and again for the quality of our shows, enjoying live music, drama, films and event cinema, as well as dance, comedy, family shows and exhibitions.
