Artspod Interview: Jonny Woo

    Artspod Interview with Jonny Woo

    November 2024

We caught up with Jonny Woo as he prepares for his one man show Suburbia at the Soho Theatre. He gives us insight into his career up to date and how he became Jonny Woo!
He is back at Soho Theatre with his most personal show to date.
Suburbia is return to his spoken word, story-telling and performance art roots – a poetic memoir charting his life from a childhood in Medway to the (sex) clubs of New York to a queer community in London. Now in his fifties, Woo is more reflective and honest about the secrets he harboured and the lessons he has learnt. His journey has been the subject of previous solo shows, but is Jonny Woo now ready to bare all? Knowing Woo, probably (wink wink).Woo’s wit is as sharp as ever and his desire to shock and surprise is evident throughout. Suburbia is everything but suburban.
