Rossini’s last Italian opera.
Il viaggio a Reims is set in a provincial hotel, where guests from all over Europe are stranded on their way to a coronation in France. Lost luggage, intrigue, politics and romance all play their part in Rossini’s last Italian opera.
Much like in The Barber Of Seville, this comedy celebrates the beauty of bel canto singing, whilst giving us some brilliant laughs along the way.
A real undiscovered gem for most audiences, this opera celebrates the vocal agility of its 14 soloists and will be performed on period instruments in partnership with the much-praised Old Street Band.
Sung in Italian with English surtitles.
